The power fruit-Oranges

Orange is the most common citrus fruit, a storehouse of several beneficial vitamins and nutrients. Oranges are an excellent source of vitamin C. One orange contains 116.2% of daily requirement of vitamin C. Vitamin C is the primary water-soluble antioxidant in the body. It fights free radicals and prevents cell damage. As a result of free radical damage to cells is cancer, especially in areas where cell division is rapid know as digestive system. That 's why vitamin C is associated with a reduced risk of colon cancer.

Free radical damage can result in painful inflammation. Vitamin C prevents free radical damage and thus associated with reduced severity of inflammatory conditions like asthma, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. The free radicals in oranges oxidize the cholesterol and can also makes it stick to the walls of arteries building up plaque. Since vitamin C neutralizes these free radicals and helps to prevent oxidation of cholesterol.

Vitamin C also vital for the proper function of the immune system and helps to prevent colds and recurrent ear infections. Oranges contain a large amount of phytonutrient compounds. These phytonutrients, when combined with vitamin C, work as effective anti-oxidants. Another phytonutrient, herperidin, found in oranges has been shown to lower blood pressure as well as cholesterol and also has anti-inflammatory properties in the human body for a healthy heart, and a healthy body. Citrus is most effective against mouth, larynx and pharynx, and stomach cancers. The folate content of oranges protects against heart disease and potassium lowers blood pressure and protects against stroke.

Oranges are rich in essential nutrients but low in glycaemic index[GI], that they are effective in fighting fat, which increase the risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, and stroke. Skin deep compounds found in the citrus fruit peels helps lower the cholesterol more effectively than some prescription drugs, and without side effects. Although a variety of citrus fruits contain these cholesterol-lowering compounds, they are most abundant in peels of oranges.

Oranges contain large amounts of fiber. One orange provides 12.5 per cent of the daily requirement of fiber, which helps in reducing of high cholesterol levels. Fiber is also helpful in keeping blood sugar levels under control and thus oranges are a healthy snack for people with diabetes. Fructose in oranges helps keep blood sugar levels from rising after eating. The fiber in oranges is also helpful in reducing constipation or diarrhea. Orange juice is helpful in preventing kidney stones and relieving inflammation. Just peel it or squeeze it, oranges are the way to go.

Apple-Cranberry fruit sauce

Apples and cranberries both can be sweet and tart among Fruits. Apples are even good to use in other dishes like in chicken. I also like to make a hash with sliced apples,  potatoes and onions.

3 medium apples (ex., Rome or good baking apples)
  1. 1 can cranberry sauce
  2. 1 tbsp of lemon juice
  3. 1/8 tsp of ground ginger
  4. 3 tbsp of butter

Preheat the oven upto 350 degrees. Cut the apples in half and remove the seeds in the middle. By taking out the seeds, each apple half should look like a bowl. Arrange the apples in a 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Then, mix together the cranberry sauce, lemon juice, and ginger. Spoon this mixture over the apples. Put some of the butter on the center of each apple slice. Put the apples in the oven and bake for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, take the baking dish out of the oven and let it cool slightly. Then add nuts with it to have the flavour.

Fruits cake-Tips to prepare at home

The wonderful combination of nuts and dried fruits with barely is enough to make cake to hold it all together. This Fruit Cake recipe is adapted it with raisins, currants, dried cranberries, dried figs and prunes, dried apricots, and candied fruit and peel (candied fruit is preserved fruit that has been dipped several times in a concentrated sugar syrup). Nuts are also included as is ground almonds.

Fruit Cake

Take a nonstick vegetable spray, an 8 inch (20 cm) spring form pan with a removable bottom. Apply the bottom of the pan with buttered parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 320 degrees F. Beat the butter and sugars until light and fluffy using bowl of your electric mixer, or with a hand mixer.Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed. Add the brandy, juice and zest of the orange, and zest of the lemon.

Then fold in the ground almonds, chopped nuts, and all the dried and candied fruits. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder and fold this into the cake batter.if desired, decorate the top of the cake with blanched almonds.

Place the pan on a larger baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.Reduce the temperature to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C) and continue to bake the cake until a long skewer inserted into the center of the cake comes out with just a few moist crumbs. Remove the cake from the oven and place on a wire rack to cool completely. With a skewer poke holes in the top surface of the cake and brush with a little brandy. Wrap the cake thoroughly in plastic wrap and aluminum foil and place in a cake tin. This cake will keep several weeks or it can be frozen.

Fruitcake-Making Tips

To prevent over-browning, line the bottom and sides of the pan with foil. If you leave extra foil overlapping the sides, be easier to remove the cake.

When baking, set the fruitcake pan in a baking pan half-filled with water to prevent burning around the edges.

Let fruitcake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then turn out onto a rack to cool completely.

For long-term storage, bury the linen and foil wrapped fruitcake in a tin filled with powdered sugar.

Drinking juices - 100% free from diseases

fruit juices
Consuming 100% fruit juices have protective health benefits similar to those of whole fruits, according to research in a literature review at 2011 Experimental Biology meeting.

It summarizes the potential nutritional benefits of fruit juice suggest a positive association between intake of 100 percent juice and reduced risk for several chronic diseases, including cancer, markers for cardiovascular disease and cognitive decline.

It is accepted that intake of fruit and vegetables is protective.“An analysis of the scientific evidence suggests that 100 percent fruit juices retain important bio active components promotes good health and aid in disease prevention.”

Among the fruit juices consumption of apple, citrus, cranberry, grape, and pomegranate juices showed beneficial effects. Markers of improved health ranged from reductions in urinary tract infections (cranberry) to improvements in age-related cognitive decline (grape and apple) to reduced risk of prostate (pomegranate) and respiratory and digestive (orange, grapefruit) cancers. Additionally, intake of all juices was linked to heightened antioxidant activity.

Medicinal Use of Papaya fruit

Papayas are very helpful for the prevention of atherosclerosis and diabetic heart disease. Papayas are an excellent source of vitamin C as well as a good source of vitamin E and vitamin A. These nutritional values of papaya help to prevent the oxidation of cholesterol. Only when cholesterol becomes oxidized, it able to stick to and build up in blood vessel walls, forming dangerous plaques that can cause heart attacks or strokes. One way in which dietary vitamin E and vitamin C may exert this effect is through their association with a compound called paraoxonase, an enzyme that inhibits LDL cholesterol and HDL cholesterol oxidation.

This fruit is good in source of fiber, to lower high cholesterol levels. The folic acid found in papayas is needed for the conversion of a substance called homocysteine into amino acids such as cysteine or methionine. If unconverted, homocysteine can directly damage blood vessel walls, is considered a significant risk factor for a heart attack or stroke.

The nutrient in papaya has been helpful in the prevention of colon cancer. Its fiber is able to bind cancer-causing toxins in the colon and keep them away from the healthy colon cells. These nutrients provide synergistic protection for colon cells from free radical damage to their DNA. Increasing your intake of these papayas is good idea for individuals at risk of colon cancer.

Papaya contains several unique protein enzymes including papain and chymopapain. These enzymes help lower inflammation and to improve healing from burns. In addition, the antioxidant nutrients found in papaya, including vitamin C, vitamins E, and beta-carotene, are also good at reducing inflammation. This may explain why people with diseases that are worsened by inflammation, such as asthma, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis, find that the severity of their condition is reduced when they get more of these nutrients.

High doses of vitamin C makes osteoarthritis, a type of degenerative arthritis that occurs with aging, another indicates that vitamin C-rich foods, such as papaya, provide humans with protection against inflammatory polyarthritis, a form of rheumatoid arthritis involving two or more joints.

If you are smoker, or if you are frequently exposed to secondhand smoke, then making vitamin A rich foods, such as papaya, your healthy way of eating save your life .vitamin A's protective effects may help explain why some smokers do not develop emphysema. "There are a lot of people who live to be 90 years old and are smokers" Why? Probably it’s because of diet. The implications are those who start smoking at an early age are more likely to become vitamin A deficient and develop complications associated with cancer and emphysema. If someone you love smokes, or if your work necessitates exposure to second hand smoke, protect yourself by making sure that at least one of the World's Healthiest Foods that are rich in vitamin A, such as papaya, is a daily part of your healthy way of eating.

It was found between the men's consumption of lycopene-rich fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes, apricots, pink grapefruit, watermelon, papaya, and guava. Men who most frequently enjoyed these foods were 82% less likely to have prostate cancer compared to those consuming the least lycopene-rich foods.Regular consumption of foods which is rich in lycopene resulted in a synergistic protective effect.

If you often have nausea, it is because you have morning sickness or you get sick when you are traveling, you may want to consider adding papaya to your diet. Papaya is known to prevent this type of nausea or provide you with relief once you already have it.

The papaya provides the body with lung protection is because it contains Vitamin A. When a person experiences lung cancer or other lung conditions, they often have a deficiency of Vitamin A. The juice from papaya leaves can cure dengue fever.
Wash the leaf and cut into smaller pieces
Squeeze the pulp and filter with the cloth
Two tablespoons serving per day
It has a very bitter taste. Hence it may provide some relief to dengue fever.

The papain is very useful for the treatment of various skin irritations and wounds. It has also been used for the treatment of bedsores, burns, wounds from surgical procedures and skin ulcers. Papain lotions are used on wounds in the healing process and not on open sores. When applied to the skin, be careful as not to let the ointment come in direct contact with open wounds.

This Fruits is rich in glutathione; a powerful antioxidant attacks free radicals in the body by blocking intestinal absorption of certain fats. They supply more potassium than bananas and are a strong source of beta-carotene.Avocados may also be useful in treating viral hepatitis (a cause of liver cancer), as well as other sources of liver damage.

These fruits contains derivative of benzaldehyde that are highly effective at shrinking tumors. Figs, which contain vitamins A and C, and calcium, magnesium and potassium, may curtail appetite and improve weight-loss efforts. Fig juice is also a potent bacteria killer in test-tube studies.

It contains monoterpenes, believed to help prevent cancer by sweeping carcinogens out of the body. Some studies show that grapefruit may inhibit the proliferation of breast-cancer cells in vitro. They also contain vitamin C, beta-carotene, and folic acid. It also contains bioflavonoid, powerful antioxidants that work as cancer preventives. Grapefruit are also a rich source of resveratrol, which inhibits the enzymes that can stimulate cancer-cell growth and suppress immune response. They also contain ellagic acid, a compound that blocks enzymes that are necessary for cancer cells - this appears to help slow the growth of tumors.

Lemon contain Limonene stimulates cancer-killing immune cells (lymphocytes, e.g.) that also helps in break down of cancer-causing substances.

Papaya has vitamin C as an antioxidant and may also reduce absorption of cancer-causing nitrosamines from processed foods. Papaya contains folacin (also known as folic acid), which has been shown to minimize cervical dysplasia and certain cancers.

Raspberries contain many vitamins, minerals, plant compounds and antioxidants known as anthocyanins that may protect against cancer. A diet containing 5% black raspberries was more effective as black raspberries may also thwart colon cancer. These are rich in antioxidants, thought to have even more cancer-preventing properties than blueberries and strawberries.

It contains lycopene, an antioxidant that attacks roaming oxygen molecules, known as free radicals that are suspected of triggering cancer. It appears that the hotter the weather, the more lycopene tomatoes produce. They also have vitamin C, an antioxidant which can prevent cellular damage that leads to cancer. It is concentrated by cooking tomatoes. lycopene can kill mouth cancer cells. An increased intake of lycopene has already been linked to a reduced risk of breast, prostate, pancreas and colorectal cancer.
